Marc Lavarde is a lecturer in Statistics at the School of Industrial Biology (Cergy). He holds a doctorate in applied mathematics from the University of Paris-Saclay, France, supervised by Pascal Massart and Patrick Pamphile. This work focused on the selection of Gaussian and sub-Gaussian piecewise linear models. After having supervised several large projects within the UPR EBINNOV since 2008, he became an expert in experimental design and statistical modeling applied to cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulation and sensory analysis. In 2014-15, he supervised the statistical part of a study on chemical submission in collaboration with the French medicines’ agency for the Interministerial Mission for the Fight against Drugs and Drug Addiction. He also co-developed industrial patents in 2017 and WP4 of the European DPP project funded by EDCTP2 in 2021-22. Since 2020, he has been working on digital twins and data augmentation in collaboration with the PIMM UMR 8006 laboratory and the team of Professor Francisco Chinesta In 2022, he becomes head of the EBI Sensory Analysis laboratory.

Marc Lavarde est enseignant-chercheur en Statistiques à l’Ecole de Biologie Industrielle (Cergy). Il est titulaire d'un doctorat en mathématiques appliquées de l'Université Paris-Saclay, France, encadré par Pascal Massart et Patrick Pamphile. Ces travaux portaient sur la sélection de modèles linéaires par morceaux gaussiens et sous-gaussiens. Depuis 2008 et après avoir supervisé plusieurs grands projets au sein de l’UPR EBINNOV, il est devenu expert en conception expérimentale et en modélisation statistique appliquées à la formulation cosmétique et pharmaceutique et à l’analyse sensorielle. En 2014-15, il a supervisé la partie statistique d'une étude sur la soumission chimique en collaboration avec l'agence du médicament pour la Mission Interministérielle de Lutte contre les Drogues et les Toxicomanies. Il a également codéveloppé des brevets industriels en 2017 et le WP4 du projet européen DPP financé par EDCTP2 en 2021-22. Depuis 2020, il travaille sur les jumeaux numériques et l’augmentation de données en collaboration avec le laboratoire PIMM UMR 8006 et l’équipe du Professeur Francisco Chinesta. En 2022, il devient responsable du laboratoire d’Analyse Sensorielle de l’EBI.
